Therapy for Relationships in Southport, CT

Stop chasing connection & start creating it.

Relationships shouldn’t feel this hard.

You’ve spent years trying to fit in, keep the peace, be who other people needed, or earn a place in relationships that never felt fully mutual. Because you’ve become so focused on maintaining relationships, you've stopped paying attention to your relationship with yourself.

Maybe you’re here because you…

  • Struggle to find friendships or relationships that feel meaningful

  • Constantly worry about disappointing other people

  • Find yourself giving more than you're receiving

  • Have a hard time saying no without feeling guilty

  • Convince yourself that being alone is safer than being hurt

  • Feel misunderstood by the people closest to you

Whatever brought you here, one thing is usually true: you're ready for relationships that feel healthier, deeper, and more authentic than the ones you've been settling for.

You are the author. Don't give away the pen.

At The Barn I believe rereading chapters is just as important as rewriting new ones!

So many people spend years living inside stories they never consciously chose—stories about their worth, their relationships, their role in the world, or what they're capable of becoming.

Therapy is an opportunity to step back, examine those stories, and decide what belongs in the next chapter.

MY APPROACH

Healthy relationships begin with you.

A lot of people come to me because they're frustrated with a relationship—a friendship that feels one-sided, family dynamics that keep repeating themselves, the same “type” every time they date, or the feeling no matter how much they give, it never feels like enough.

And while we absolutely talk about those relationships, we also spend time looking at the one relationship that follows you everywhere: the relationship you have with yourself. In this work, I often describe myself as part therapist/part investigative reporter. Together, we'll get curious about the patterns showing up in your relationships and where they came from.

  • Why do you keep ending up in the same dynamics?

  • Why is it so hard to say what you really need?

  • Why do certain relationships leave you feeling drained, anxious, or misunderstood?

Once we understand what's driving those patterns, we can start changing them. We'll spend less time trying to earn your place in relationships and more time helping you understand what you want, what you deserve, and what meaningful connections actually look like

Walk away from this experience knowing…

  • You are worthy of relationships that feel safe, reciprocal, & real relationships.

  • You don't have to choose between being yourself & being loved.

  • The best, healthiest relationships let you be completely yourself.

  • You can stop settling for surface-level relationships.

  • Boundaries are actually a form of self-respect, not rejection.
